Spare Biscuits! PHASE 2

PHASE 2.2 HYBRIDIZATION

S1  PLOP+ENGULF+TRANSMIT+PROPOGATE

conservation of matter

More of a narrative idea, take the idea of conservation matter–what is put in is what is created. The original idea derives from the cranes next to our site, which are grounded with a base, but have more movable arms. Originally, I literally took an image of a crane and cut it out of the building. Eventually it evolved into this fluid thing, which considers a corner entrance on the southwest side and spreading arms on the east. The arms can begin to suggest occupancy, as well as serving as tubes for light, ventilation, etc.

S2  PLOP+BEND+LOCK

another layer of space over this?

A very basic model where I separated the program into 3 bars of 50′ (for ventilation and daylighting), and then locked those bars, angling them to adjust for solar exposure. Not very interesting, but what if another layer of program space surrounds this? (I begin to explore that in one of the models).

S3  SPONGE+ARMS+MASH

absorbs stuff, grows stuff

A sponge absorbs water, it retains it, and can be compressed and expel that water. Then I plop the bars (taken from S2) and embed that into an absorbing sponge? There is opportunity to develop the connections between something more variable and something more skeletal within.
